The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted us all, including a generation of young teens that needs the knowledge and skills to keep themselves and the children they care for safe. At Safe Sitter® we are committed to continuing to meet those needs in the best way that we can, including through virtual classes.
Virtual classes by Safe Sitter® are a great option during the pandemic because like our in-person classes, they are Instructor-led. The interaction between Instructors and students brings the information to life, helps provide context and understanding, and enables Instructors to answer questions and check for understanding.
We have worked hard over the past few months to make adjustments so that our classes work for virtual platforms. Our Safe Sitter® Essentials class has a new digital presentation as well as digital versions of each game that can played remotely.
In addition to our comprehensive Safe Sitter® Essentials class, we have also adapted our introductory courses for virtual learning. These courses are meant for small groups and designed to be facilitated by a parent volunteer or group leader. You are not required to be a Safe Sitter® Instructor to teach these programs.
Safe@Home— 90-minute course to help prepare students in grades 4-6 learn how to keep themselves safe indoors, outdoors, online, and with others; what to do in an emergency; how to keep from getting hurt; and what they should do if they get hurt or sick.
Intro to Safe Babysitting—60-minute course meant for small groups of 6th-8th graders that provides an introduction to child care and child development and excellent instruction on the responsibilities of caring for children.
