Safe@Home Course Content

Safe@Home is designed to enable any adult that enjoys teaching preteens to facilitate an introductory level program to prepare students to care for themselves when parents are away for short periods of time. You do not need to be a Safe Sitter® Instructor to teach Safe@Home.

Safety Skills

Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. 

First Aid Skills

Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.

Ordering Information

Each student is required to have a Safe@Home booklet ($15.00/person) and each order includes an electronic completion certificate, Facilitator Guide, and digital presentation. The Facilitator Guide includes a script to follow and includes planned questions to facilitate the discussion.

Safe Sitter® Providers can purchase Safe@Home booklets at a discounted fee on the Product Order Form. At the end of the class, please submit a roster to Safe Sitter, Inc. using the Student Roster tab in Instructor Resources. If you have any questions about offering Safe@Home, please contact your Program Support Specialist.
