Site Coordinator tips for Success

Everyone knows that Site Coordinators are key to Safe Sitter® programs running smoothly, but what are the secrets of successful Site Coordinators?

  1. They regularly train new Instructors.

Instructors come and go; they change jobs, move, or become too busy to teach. As Instructors become unavailable, make sure to recruit new ones and register them with Safe Sitter® for Instructor Training. If you’re not sure where to start looking for new Instructors, we have resources that may help! Learn more about Instructor Qualifications or register a new Instructor for Safe Sitter® Instructor training.

  2. They have a steady schedule of classes.

When you create a calendar of classes and post that on your website, parents and students can plan ahead and choose class dates that work best for their schedule, and students that register for classes that are full can be moved to the next available class date. For more information on setting class dates and registering students, visit Ready … Set … RECRUIT!

  3. They make registration easy.

Posting a calendar of regularly scheduled classes is a good start, but you also need to make registration easy. The best way to do this is with a user-friendly online registration form. If you do not have a registration software program, you can use the Safe Sitter® Interactive Registration form in Instructor Resources or create an online form using a free program such as Google Forms.

  4. They follow up with Instructors after each class.

It’s important to talk with Instructors to see how class went. Ask to see the student evaluations to find out what students thought. Remember: a successful program is largely built on word-of-mouth referrals, so help your Instructors with any questions or classroom management issues they may encounter.

You may also find it helpful to consult the Site Coordinator Checklist for additional tips and reminders, and share the Teaching Checklist with all your Instructors.

Follow these steps and you’ll be well on your way to a successful program that runs smoothly, and a successful program means a safer community!
