Babysitting Instructor Certification without CPR Instructor Certification

For over 40 years, young teens across the country have been completing babysitting courses. In fact, you may have completed one yourself and now want to teach this generation of students to safely babysit.

Some Instructor-Training Organizations require Babysitting Instructors to also be CPR Instructors. While this provides you with additional education and the ability to issue additional certifications, pursuing Instructor certification can be timely and costly. In addition, maintaining the Instructor certification can be challenging as you often need to teach a minimum number of annual CPR classes.

If you have considered pursuing a CPR Instructor certification so that you can continue to offer babysitting training, Safe Sitter® might be a better fit for you! To be a Safe Sitter® Instructor you must:

  • Be CPR certified (current in a CPR course that requires a minimum of a skills performance test in infant and child CPR).
  • Have access to infant and child CPR Manikins.
  • Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2 years of experience in health care, child care (including parenting), or youth work.
  • Enjoy teaching young teens and being a role model.
  • Commit to teaching at least one course per year.
  • Complete Safe Sitter® Instructor training.

As a Safe Sitter® Instructor you will need to keep your CPR certification up to date, but you do not need to be a CPR Instructor. Safe Sitter® Instructor training is self-paced and completed online in about four hours. As a Safe Sitter® Instructor, you’ll receive:

  • Access to the online training platform.
  • A printed copy of the Safe Sitter® Instructor Manual.
  • A Safe Sitter® branded Instructor tote.
  • Access to Safe Sitter® Instructor Resources which has digital Instructor Manuals, class forms, marketing materials, and Canva templates to use to promote classes.

In addition to the ease of maintaining Safe Sitter® Instructor certification, a few other things about our organization might be of interest to you:

  • This is all we do! We aren’t distracted by other areas of service. We create quality programs, train Instructors, and then provide them with the support and service they deserve.
  • Speaking of service, as a Safe Sitter® Instructor, you will have a dedicated Program Support Specialist. Any time you have a question or need support, you will get the help you need in a timely manner.
  • Technology trends and advances mean that the students in your class this year are likely to vary from the students you will teach in a few years. To help you meet these ever-changing needs, we update our curriculum every five years so that it is current and remains medically accurate and developmentally appropriate.
  • We keep things as easy and transparent as possible. You won’t find any red tape, hidden fees, or fine print surprises. Our mission is to build safer communities, and our Instructors make that possible.

Safe Sitter® was founded in 1980 and since the first class, we have always strived to provide a quality product with excellent service. Here are a few things our Instructors have shared about their experience with Safe Sitter®.

I truly love the Safe Sitter® program and appreciate its focus on equipping young caregivers with essential safety and life skills. The hands-on approach and practical knowledge make a real impact, and I look forward to teaching it again.
