Tips for a Successful Class

Follow these tips to set yourself up for success and make your next class a great experience for both you and your students!

Market Your Program

Marketing flyers are a great way to spread the word about your upcoming Safe Sitter® classes. This service is free to you as a Safe Sitter® Provider. To create a marketing flyer, visit the Marketing Request Form. New! We now have branded templates in Canva.

Recruit Students

You’ve created your marketing flyer and now it is time to recruit! Post on social media, your website, or community boards. Check out our detailed tips on Ready…Set…Recruit!

Easy Registration

Make sure you have a user-friendly registration process ready. If you do not have a registration software program, you can use the Safe Sitter® Registration form in Instructor Resources under the Student Class Forms tab or create an online form using a free program such as Google Forms.

Practice Makes Perfect

Whether it is your first class or 50th, make sure you spend time reviewing the Instructor Manual before your class. Don’t forget that digital versions of the Instructor Manuals are available in Instructor Resources for your convenience.

Be Prepared

Before your next class, make sure you have all your class materials (Digital Presentation, Game Pack, student materials, etc.) ready. Every student needs their own Student Handbook for class. Don’t forget to order 2-3 weeks in advance and order a few extra Handbooks to cover last minute registrations.

Rest & Energize

Before your class, make sure you get plenty of rest and have a healthy breakfast to start your day off right. Students will feed off the energy you bring to the class – so make sure you are radiating positive and happy energy for your classes!

Why We Play Games in Class

Games are an important part of the Safe Sitter® curriculum, which is why we include a variety in our Game Pack. Here are 4 reasons why we incorporate games in class.

  • Games reinforce important concepts in a fun way.
  • Games are often students’ favorite parts of class.
  • Students use their critical thinking skills to apply what they have learned to realistic scenarios.
  • Students need movement during class to get a break and help with restlessness. Pro tip: add in a quick game of Hokie Pokie, Shake it Off, or Simon Says if they need more movement.
