Become a Safe Sitter® Instructor: Qualifications & Fees

Safe Sitter® Instructor Qualifications & Fees

Becoming a Safe Sitter® Instructor is a meaningful way to build safer communities in your area.

Before you apply, make sure you have the following in place:

  • Current CPR certification that includes a skills performance test in infant and child CPR
  • Access to infant and child medical manikins for hands-on skills practice
  • A safe, public-facing location to hold classes — private homes are not permitted
  • You must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent

If all four of these apply to you, you’re ready to apply!

FEES

Safe Sitter® programs require two fees to get started: a Course Materials Fee and a per-person Instructor Certification Fee. Course materials are reusable for classes.

The Course Materials Fee ($299) includes your Presentation Pack — digital presentations for all Safe Sitter® programs, digital games, a Game Pouch with physical game materials, and an Important Information Notepad — along with your license to offer Safe Sitter® programs, a listing on the Find A Class page at safesitter.org, a customized 1:1 orientation with your dedicated Program Support Specialist, marketing flyer tool access, and ongoing program support.

The Instructor Certification Fee ($199/person) includes self-paced online Instructor Certification that can be completed in about four hours, a printed 3-hole punched Instructor Manual for the Safe Sitter® Babysitting Course, digital access to the Safe@Home Facilitator’s Guide and Instructor Manual for the Safe Sitter® Babysitting Course and Grandparents: Getting Started, an Instructor Tote, and login credentials to Safe Sitter® Instructor Resources.

Participant material fees are as follows: Safe@Home is $10 per student, the Safe Sitter® Babysitting Course Student Handbook is $18.50 per student, and Grandparents: Getting Started is $15 per participant.

As a Safe Sitter® Provider, you have the flexibility to set and collect your own course fees, giving you the ability to manage registrations while considering factors such as supply costs, Instructor expenses, and the income level of the community you serve.
