Safe Sitter® National Youth Advisory Committee

The Safe Sitter® National Youth Advisory Committee (NYAC) is a volunteer group of select Safe Sitter® graduates chosen to provide guidance, insight, and recommendations to Safe Sitter, Inc. leadership.

Committee members are chosen not just for what they’ve learned — but for their voice, their leadership, and their commitment to helping other young people become more capable and confident. This is a meaningful opportunity to influence real programs used by thousands of students nationwide.

What Members Do

  • Participate in quarterly virtual meetings to review and provide feedback on Safe Sitter® programs, products, and materials
  • Contribute content for the Safe Sitter® online student resource library — sharing perspectives, tips, and stories that resonate with their peers
  • Help identify Safe Sitter® “heroes” — graduates who have used their skills to save a life or prevent an injury — so their stories can inspire the next generation
  • Represent the student voice in decisions that directly affect how Safe Sitter® programs are designed and delivered

What Members Gain

Who Should Apply

We’re looking for Safe Sitter® graduates who are:

  • Entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2026
  • Enthusiastic about child safety and youth leadership
  • Comfortable sharing their opinions and ideas — even when it means saying something needs to change
  • Interested in writing, storytelling, or creating content for other students
  • Ready to commit to quarterly meetings and occasional between-session contributions

Commitment

  • Four 60-minute virtual meetings per year (one per quarter)
  • Light between-session contributions (content submissions, surveys, hero nominations)
  • One-year term with the option to renew
